Roman atelier
A single atelier. Every piece made where it is designed.
This brand was born from a question the philosopher Walter Benjamin posed in 1935: what happens to a work of art when it can be infinitely reproduced? His answer — that it loses its aura, that irreducible sense of presence of a work of art rooted in a specific time and place — became our founding conviction. In a market flooded with sameness, we chose the opposite direction.
We believe that an object made by hand, slowly, with skill and intention, carries something a machine never can. We call it artigianalità — a word that in Italian holds more than craftsmanship alone. It holds creativity, patience, and the meditative discipline of making something by hand, up to twelve hours of meticulous craft for a single piece.
Each one individually placed.
Time is the material we work with most.
A single atelier. Every piece made where it is designed.
Every piece begins with research. Into proportion, pattern, and the specific demands of each design before a bead is touched. It is this groundwork, inherited in spirit from the Arts and Crafts Movement's belief in the thinking maker, that separates craft from large production.
The making itself is a form of weaving. Each bead is individually placed and linked to the next using a Japanese stainless steel thread, its core protected by a nylon coating that keeps every strand intact — ensuring the structural integrity, durability and longevity of the finished piece. On average, that is 675 beads per bag. On our largest designs, nearly 1000. Each one set with deliberate tension, its position a decision — mastering the most complex techniques takes years of practice.
Tiger's eye forms deep within ancient Precambrian rock — a geological timeline no human process can replicate.
An optical effect caused by light reflecting off parallel fibres locked within the stone — the signature shimmer you see shift as it moves.
Tone, pattern and surface vary from bead to bead. No two ever identical.
Every stone we use is natural and certified by a gemmological lab for authenticity and identification — its tone, pattern, and surface impossible to manufacture or replicate.
We work with stones that carry their own histories. The stone we use the most is tiger's eye, its shifting golden depths long regarded across ancient cultures as a stone of protection and clarity. Malachite, with its deep concentric greens formed by copper deposits over millennia. Lapis lazuli, prized since antiquity when it coloured the pigments of Renaissance painters. To wear it is to carry something formed in a world we can barely imagine.
Where design calls for it, we also work with precision-cut crystals — chosen for the way they catch and return light, adding brilliance alongside the quiet depth of stone.
Where every piece is meticulously handmade and designed in our atelier.
Each drop contains a limited number of pieces.
Each bespoke piece is made entirely to order, with the same care as every piece in the collection.
Rome is a city that has never fully surrendered to mass production. Tucked into its neighbourhoods are workshops that have operated for generations — botteghe where products are still made by hand, slowly, by people who have chosen depth over volume. Our atelier is part of that tradition.
Every piece is produced here, in limited drops that reflect the time and attention each one demands. Most of our products are made to order — every piece that leaves our atelier was made with a specific purpose, and intention.
We also offer a bespoke service, including bridal commissions and specific material requests. Contact us to enquire.
